Been a user since near the beginning. Remember being top of leader boards often... easy when there was only 4 or 5 people on the boards lol. I'm not interested in chasing down the users making 200+ QSOs a day though, I'll let them have the glory now.. I can't match that :'(

I think it's a great. You can straight away see where the action is, who is doing what and where, and more recently with what power. Interesting how many people are using 100W on 20m FT8, if they're not on the leader boards using that power with that mode on that band, they might want to plug an antenna in ;D

I have also noticed trends on SM, there is one 2E0*** who can log an FT8 contact every 20 seconds or so! ???
How does he manage that? :-\

Stu has now added a 'Merch' site, Mug, Mat, Hat, Cap & Badge.

Station Master Merch.

I think there are a few quirks with the site that I am sure will be ironed out by Stu in time. I mentioned one in the discord the other day where I noticed JT65 & JT9 contacts didn't appear to be being counted towards the 'Most Data today' leader board.

There is something going on with the reported powers used. Not sure where it's coming up with the figures when you import an adi file that doesn't include the figures. I uploaded a contest log yesterday and it registered all my SSB logs as 100W and CW logs as 50W, but all were made with 25W or less. I've started editing some of the logs on SM, but don't have the enthusiasm for it this morning. Some of the 100W FT8 contacts I have seen by other people may then well not of been with 100W.

The 2E0 who shows is logging FT8 every 20 secs or so might then also have something to do with a SM site quirk. But there's a chance they are operating more than one transmitter at a time, maybe? Some big contest stations run more than one transceiver at time. I don't think I could multitask well enough to do that lol.

Stu's doing a great job for one man though. Most niggles like I've mentioned above are only very minor and I do really like the site.

Thanks for the heads-up on the merch site! I hadn't noticed that, I'll take a look.

Hi Neal, are you using SM1 or SM2? I haven't used SM1 for a few months so don't know about that but as SM2 is 'beta' we must expect that not everything will work as it should.

I agree that logging an FT8 contact every 20 seconds or so could be down to the site, but really think it unlikely as I haven't seen the same by any other operator. (I have run 'beta' versions on some of my sites in the past, but never come across that sort of behaviour from just one member, but accept it is a remote possibility). More than one Tx could be, but like you I couldn't multitask to that extent considering the pile up's that can happen on digi.

Yep Stu is doing a brilliant job, all credit to him. I'm not sure if he ever sleeps, a couple of days ago he issued 3 updates to SM2 within 24 hours!

He did promote it on Discord last week but it seems to have disappeared from the menu! ???

I haven't used SM2 yet. I use a mix of SM1 and the website. I have SM1 running which auto logs WSJT-X contacts with FT8, 4 etc. I used to use SM1 to log SSB and other phone mode contacts but, but now use the logging option on the front page of the website which syncs with QRZ straight away. Use SM1 for the occasional SSTV log. When I do any contesting I use a standalone logging program and import the adi file into the website when I have finished the contest. I'll give SM2 a go soon.

Other thoughts on the rapid FT8 QSO logging... there are people who don't wait for RR or 73 messages before logging a contact, they might be one of those people. I've heard, rightly or wrongly, that the Japanese don't call a station with their locator code, but call giving a signal report first.. I've seen a few EU stations do that too, which can cut the QSO time down a bit.

I use SM for FT8 etc & Phone and all sync to QRZ straight away. I'm not sure I could cope with different logging software. :-[

I have seen quite a few who don't wait for the final, a good thought so I will try & get a FT8 contact with the operator in question to see if that is his 'thing'.
