Well done to Nicolas for using his radio knowledge to help the rescuers help the community, and well done to the Mayor for making a swift decision and asking for help.

I could easily imagine a British Mayor having a meeting to discuss if it would be acceptable to bring help in from the outside, if any kind of risk assessment had been carried out and what about the 'health & safety' side of things?
By the time the wheels of the local council have got moving the disaster is over and most people have got on with it .
