The Brighton FB group is gett'n busy, as are the airwaves on 868MHz, particularly in Brighton, but also now starting to break through into Mid Sussex.

Which is a relief, as I was getting bored talking to myself!

Most of my nodes are on 433MHz...

Simon is doing a great job of running and promoting that group, and his YouTube channel is also going great guns. Lots of content, and now 1K subscribers!

Simon is doing too well Berni, my phone was constantly pinging with 'Longfast' messages. I have now turned of those notifications and only get 'Direct messages'.

The problem now is that not all messages are delivered due to overloading of the cloud. :'(

That's what Yagi's are for :)

Or you could try 433MHz. I have both. The interesting thing about the 433MHz ISM band is that it overlaps with the amateur band. 1KW LoRa transmissions anyone? The lower frequency could in theory give more range too, and both frequencies are legal in the UK.

Mesh networks is what really excites me. Meshtastic is only one such network. Take a look at Meshcom and Aredn, then when you're done with that, move up to TTN (The Things Network). You can also flash many of your existing devices for satellite comms with TinyGS ( tinygs.com ) for example, or check on your neighbours tyre pressures remotely with rtl_433 ( https://www.rtl-sdr.com/tag/rtl_433 ). My neighbour's Sunday roast was late last weekend. I know, because I was monitoring their digital meat thermometer.

I understand about Yagi's Berni but I'm not that dedicated, in fact I have just about had enough of the many irrelevant messages sent and will probably forget Meshtastic. Just today one guy sent two messages via Longfast which were aimed at a specific operator when they should have gone direct. ???

I could never be so nosey and check on others Dinner, Tyre pressures etc., ;)  but fully understand the RF side of the interest.

I will certainly read up on TinyGS so thanks for that.

ps. Hope to make it to the club this year. :)
