I got in to the Cb back in 1980 using a Midland 2001 with a DV 27 on a biscuit tin with foil LOL.
When I got my driving licence in 1988 I went on fox hunts and rescue mission to fellow Cb er's who broke down etc. It was great fun. It wasn't until the last couple of years I started SW listening with a  Sony ICF SW100 and a long wire . I was hearing all sorts of Ham radio guys & girls from all over the place. I then came across PMR which for me was great as I am always up on a hill or cycling around at week ends listening to all sorts . Hence now getting into the southern PMR net each week. Then I found out that CB is legal so the rest is history back on and chatting to some great people.

I run a President Mc Kinley .  (wide banded) at home on a Moon raker Half wave silver rod and a 2tlt home brew on a 7m pole when static mobile and a K40 mag  mount on car. I have  President Randy III with an after market 27 MHz telescopic whip for cycling and walking adventures . The first contact got on Handy was 22 mile hop which was great.
