If anybody has any questions, or any concerns about taking the first steps into amateur radio, I would be very happy to answer/address them here on the forum.

Obtaining your amateur radio Foundation licence is a straightforward and simple process. It's well within the capabilities of anybody who has a genuine interest in operating a radio and in knowing a bit about how it works. And if you have any negative pre-conceptions about amateurs, then I'm here to tell you that they're probably totally misplaced.

A Foundation licence gets you access to the 160m, 80m, 40m, 30m, 20m, 17m. 15m, 12m, 10m, 6m, 4m, 2m and 70cms bands. You even get access to the  3cms band!

The exam is 26 multiple choice questions - you have an hour, and the pass mark is just 19! Statistically you'll get around 5 of them correct just by guessing, so why wouldn't you give it a go? You can even do it online these days.

£7 buys you the book which contains everything you need to pass. Get it here:
https://www.rsgbshop.org/acatalog/The-Foundation-Licence-Manual-1711.html

That should be all you need, but if you're not into reading that, then just take a free training course here:
https://www.essexham.co.uk/train/book-a-place

It's time to do it. You'll wonder why you waited all those years.
