Hi. Name's Neal. My interest in radio mimics so many other people that returned to CB in recent years and took up amateur radio too, that I won't bore you with that, you can guess the story :)

In my area CB is dead, or at least compared to what it was a long time ago. I use it to talk to the few locals on occasion, but mostly for DX. I use PMR too, mostly to talk with my daughter and wife on my walk home from work, but also a little DX when conditions are right. On ham radio I like experimenting and making my own mostly indoor antennas. Like trying less commonly used modes. For the majority of the time I am on air, 10m is where I can be found.

Thanks for letting me in to your group ;D

Hello Neal & welcome to AllRadio.
I must say, you did better than me on FT8 today as I only managed one contact. I did try a few times during the day but conditions were the worst for me in ages.

CB around Sussex is as in a lot of places, can get busy on 19 with many using up to 100W for local chat. ::)

Good DX on whatever band you go on.

Cheers & 73,
Tony

Thank you for the welcome Tony.

There's certainly been some weird conditions the last couple of days, DX hasn't been easy for me in most directions other than Brazil for some reason. Fingers crossed it will pick up for us all today.

Hi Neal

Welcome to AllRadio

Yes Thursday to Sunday (2nd to the 5th) the conditions on 11m were acting strange for me.

You seem to do very well with your indoor antennas & QRP.
40M has been the best for me today on FT8 but as expected mostly UK & Europe. Even that was good for 10 minutes or so then the bottom dropped out again. ::)

We must all remember, things will get better again. :)
