My location was Radio Corner, Ashdown Forest 🌳 in the county of East Sussex, the home of Winnie the Pooh and friends and the set up was the Anytone AT-6666 (no amp no power mic) and a Solarcon A-99 antenna on a 10 foot (3 meter) mast and a drive on plate.

The net can be found on channel 39 on the mid-block or 27.395 MHz LSB and is scheduled to start at or near 8 o'clock 🕗 local UK time and finishes anytime after 23:00 Hrs 🕚.

The weather on the night was clear, still and there was a chill in the air. Autumn is coming.

Welcome one and all

Here is my report of the Southern Area & South Coast SSB Net, held on Thursday 10-10-2024

With the Solar Data/Propagation forecast indicating that most bands were closed and conditions poor.
I headed to Radio Corner, Ashdown 🌴 Forest (in the county of East Sussex) and set up my car battery powered Anytone AT-6666 and Solarcon Antenna, hoping to make the best of the night.

The weather was cold and still with a temperature of about 6 degrees C or 42 degrees F at the beginning, this dropped to below 3 degrees C or about 37 degrees F by the time I packed down.

The net is scheduled to start at 8 o'clock 🕗 in the evening UK local time, and is held on channel 39 FFC or 27.395 MHz on Lower Side Band. The net runs until 11 o'clock in the evening, but can go on until Friday morning.

Now on with the list of check ins and who worked and or heard who. All stations are 26 division unless otherwise stated.

Hello & welcome

Here is my report for the SSB net held on Thursday 17-10-2024.

With the full "Hunters" moon 🌕 on show, I drove into a busy Radio Corner and made my way to a clear spot. I parked up and started to set up the Solarcon A-99 antenna and Anytone At-6666 (no amp no power mic). This got some funny looks form those who had started to lose interest in the big bright full moon.

Once set up, I joined the few looking at the moon in the East, there was suddenly automatic gun fire from the MOD site in the valley, I looked round to the West and saw a line of 20+ Starlink satellite's.

As the car park empty, I tuned the Anytone to channel 39 on the mid-block (FCC) or 27.395 MHz using Lower Side Band and got ready to start the net at 8 o'clock 🕗 or 20:00 Hrs local UK time.

I put a call out and the first station to call in was. . . .

and me
CI 2290--Ray--Ashdown 🌲 Forest--East Sussex--In the chair 💺

The net finished just after 23:00 🕚
Thank you all who called in and to the listening stations.

Hello

Welcome to my report for the Southern Area & South Coast SSB Net held on Thursday 24th of October 2024.

My location for the night was a dark, damp, cloudy, gloomy and empty Radio Corner, Ashdown 🌳 Forest in the county of East Sussex.

The net is held almost every Thursday night, no matter what, and can be found on FFC channel 39 or 27.395 MHz using the Americans favourite mode which is not AM, but Lower Side Band.

My set up was the older version 3 (I think) of the Anytone AT-6666 (no amp, no power mic), powered by a couple of old car batteries 🔋 and transmitting out of a Solarcon A-99 antenna.

So at 8 o'clock 🕗 PM UK time I called out to start the net.

All stations are 26 division unless otherwise stated.

OM 001 - Graham - Burgess Hill - West Sussex 🥇
CT 4610 - Andy - Reigate hill - Surrey
RC 55 - Murphy - Butts Brow - East Sussex
YF 52 - Neil - Alton - Hampshire
CW 443 - Kris - Upper Beeding - West Sussex
Joker - Steve - Reigate Hill - Surrey
CT 938 - Ian - Iver - Buckinghamshire
RM 02 - J C - Puttenham Common - West Sussex
CCA 20 - Charlie - Hassocks - West Sussex
TN 661 - Ray - Crowborough - East Sussex
163/26 RU 08 - Rod - Brecon Beacon - Wales
BS 109 - John - Down Town London
RB 456 - Nick - East Grinstead - West Sussex
UK 175 - Wayne - Wadhurst - East Sussex
CT 4515 - John - Ditchling Beacon - East Sussex
AMC 1966 - Boris - Bexhill - East Sussex
Delta 31 - Adam - Hastings - East Sussex
CT 3466 - "Radar" Ray - Crowhurst - Surrey
TC 156 - Steve - Gatwick - West Sussex
and me
CI 2290 - Ray - Ashdown 🌳 Forest - East Sussex - in the chair 💺

The finished after 11 O'clock 🕚 PM and by then the clouds had started to clear showing the stars and a half moon 🌓 .

Thank you all who called in and sorry if you tried and wasn't heard.

That about wrap things up

Tony

I was yet another 'listening station' on 24th!
So much noise, QSB & cross mode at my QTH, as well as the usual warbling signals from most.
The only stations I heard without the warbles were 'across the pond' and Ian in Bucks.

Welcome everybody

Here is my report for the Southern Area & South Coast SSB Net held on Halloween 👻 Thursday 31-10-2024.

My set up for the night was the Anytone AT-6666 (no amp, no power mic) powered by a good battery 🔋 and a not so good battery, a Solarcon A-99 antenna all connected with some high quality coax which is a lot better than the stuff I use on the PMR net.

The net is scheduled to start around 8 o'clock 🕗 local UK time and finishes anytime after 23:00 Hrs 🕚.
It can be heard on FCC channel 39 or 27.395 MHz and is on Lower Side Band.

Radio Corner, Ashdown 🌴 Forest in the County of East Sussex was my location for the night, where the weather was cool, still, starry night.

Now on with the list of check ins and who could hear and work who. All stations are 26 division unless other wise stated.

The net finished at 23:20.

Thank you all who called in and stuck with us on a rough n tough night.
We started the night with the U S of A, stomping in and making it difficult to contact local stations. It then went quiet and then later on Italy came in causing a bit of interference.

If the net was a boxer, it left the ring battered, bruised, and with a bloody lip!
